Potty training seemed like a big challenge for Maria and her little boy, Leo. But as his third birthday approached, Maria knew it was time to start. She got training pants, stickers, and lots of patience, ready for this new step.
“Leo, you’re such a big boy now!” she said one morning. “It’s time to say bye-bye to diapers and start using the potty like a big kid.”
Leo held his favorite toy truck and looked unsure. “But I like my diapers, Mommy,” he said.
Maria smiled and knelt beside him. “I know, sweetheart, but now you get to wear cool big kid underwear! We can pick your favorites.”
They went to the store, and Leo chose underwear with his favorite superheroes. Maria put a potty in the bathroom and one in the living room to make it easy. Then they got started.
The first day was full of excitement—and little accidents. Leo wanted to try but was busy playing and forgot to go to the potty. Maria told him it was okay and that learning takes time.
“It’s okay, buddy! We’ll try again next time,” she said with a hug.
After a few days, Leo was doing better. After breakfast, he ran to the potty and smiled when he got it right. Maria cheered and gave him a sticker to put on his chart.
“See? You’re getting it!” she said, giving him a high-five.
Some days were harder—like when they went to the store and forgot extra clothes. Maria learned to always be ready and reminded herself that accidents were part of learning.
One night, while reading bedtime stories, Leo looked up and said, “Mommy, I used the potty all day today!” He was so proud, and Maria gave him a big hug.
“You sure did, my love. I’m so proud of you!”
Potty training wasn’t just about using the potty. It was about patience, growing, and celebrating little wins. Each accident was a step forward, and Maria felt happy watching her little boy grow.
To all parents starting potty training—be patient, stay happy, and celebrate every little success. Soon, your child will be running to the potty all by themselves!
